In order to facilitate access to Christ the Redeemer, one the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, tickets to the Corcovado Train are now available online, at www.corcovado.com.br or at Riotur’s Tourist Information Office at Rua Candelaria, in Downtown Rio.


Another way to get to the famous statue of Christ is the new van service made available by the city hall. The vans depart from Largo do Machado and head straight to the monument of Christ the Redeemer. As announced last month, the purchase of tickets for the train directly at Cosme Velho station will no longer be available. The train can transport up to 300 passengers per hour. For visitors who choose to take their car or get there by taxi, tickets must also be purchased in advance, as the sales spot at Hotel Paineiras will no longer be active. This previous sales spot, located at Estrada das Paineiras, will now work solely as an exchange office were vouchers can be handed in for tickets to the monument.


On top of Corcovado, within Tijuca National Park, the view of several areas of Rio de Janeiro is one of the reasons why this touristic spot is so famous. The main reason can be found atop Corcovado Mountain: the largest and most famous Art Deco sculpture in world, the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The statue is one of Rio’s main sights, voted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World by Swiss organization New 7 Wonders Foundation. 21 monuments took part in the voting process, and seven were elected throughout the planet.

Admission: Adults – R$ 46; Children 6-12 years old – R$ 23; Children under the age of 6 – Free admission. Seniors over 60, individuals with special needs and students get a 50% discount upon presentation of an identification document.
