Around 300 films make up the repertoire of Festival do Rio, which takes place from September 26th to October 10th.This is a great gateway for the dissemination of Brazilian cinema abroad, and for foreign content within the country. This festival is already part of the captive calendar of international cinema. Famous names share a space with young bringing both a fresh vibe and seriousness to the event, which features new, classic and rare films.
Festival do Rio subdivides the cinematic productions into showcases, with sections such as Panorama, Expectation, Gay, Latin Premiere and Generation, among others. Première Brazil elects the best of national films in two categories, chosen by the public, and seven others who rely on the official jury vote.
Each year, a country is honored, and in 2013, the series Focus Germany will bring out the newest and best in the German film making industry. Movies like “Blue Jasmine”, Woody Allen’s latest film, and “The Butler”, by Lee Daniel, director of “Precious”, will be released during the event. Tickets for the Festival will be for sale at low prices, along with a passport for multiple sessions.
